Spotlight on Cameron Watt

Hi Cameron, tell us how long you have been with UTSI and in the cybersecurity industry:

I started my time with UTSI as an intern and then upon earning my degree from Texas A&M, I was hired full-time. I’m two years in and grateful for the opportunities to grow in the company.

Describe your role at UTSI:

I am a junior consultant with a specialization in cybersecurity.

How do you see cybersecurity evolving over the next 5 years?

I believe AI is going to become a huge part of cybersecurity, becoming akin to the entities in sci fi that monitor a facility and its processes and can manage, detect, mitigate and eliminate threats automatically. They may not reach this level in the next 5 years, but I believe we will begin to see all sorts of examples of AI being injected into the security framework tools available commercially.

What is your top aspiration for yourself?

I want to work closely with control centers, specifically in the process of upgrading them to be compliant with current and emerging regulations. I do not pursue this because I have a passion for rules, but to help companies achieve a good security posture with the new and advanced tools of the future.

BIGGEST INFLUENCER:

Senior consultants here at UTSI. I feel so lucky to work with and learn from accomplished professionals with such extensive experience and credibility in the cybersecurity industry. Their willingness to take time to guide and mentor me is invaluable to my career.

Spider-man has always been my favourite superhero, especially in the Marvel cinematic universe.
